Adopt a Heritage

GUWAHATI, May 5: Dispur has decided to request the Centre for exempting the three monuments of Sivasagar – Ranghar, Karenghar and Sivadol – from the latter’s ‘Adopt a Heritage’ project as the people of Assam have their sentiment attached to these heritage sites.

State Tourism Minister Chandan Brahma made announcement at his meeting with the leaders of various organizations, including that of the AASU, that have been opposing the move to hand over the responsibility of maintenance of the three heritage sites and the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) to private companies.

Brahma had made it clear earlier that the State Government would move the Centre to exempt KNP from the purview of the ‘Adopt a Heritage’ project.
