Distribution of Hard Copies of Tickets for India Vs.West Indies ODI to Start on Oct 17

GUWAHATI: 7 members of West Indies Cricket team arrived today in the city to take part in the forthcoming ODI which is scheduled to be held at ACA stadium, Barsapara on Monday. The other members of the team along with Indian squad will land in Guwahati on Wednesday.

These seven cricketers were not the part of the Test squad and flew straight from home to Guwahati. The cricketers who arrived in the city today are: Ashley Nurse, Marlon Samuels, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Fabian Allen, Oshane Thomas, Rovman Powell and Obed McCoy. Evin Lewis, who was supposed to accompany the players, didn’t turn up with the team. The officials of the Assam Cricket Association were present at the airport to receive the cricketers.

It will be the third occasions when West Indies will play an ODI in the city. Last time the side visit Guwahati was in 1994 where they faced New Zealand in a Wills World Series tie. West Indies won the match by 135 runs. However, their first appearance was in 1983 and it was the first occasion when Guwahati hosted an ODI match at the Nehru stadium. Visitors beat home team by 6 wickets.

Meanwhile, the Assam Cricket Association will open a box office at the Nehru Stadium from October 17 to distribute the hard copies of match tickets. The cricket lovers who already purchased tickets online can collect their hard copies from this office which will remain open till October 20. There will be no fresh sale of tickets from the box office.
