District administration assures help for Non-Performing Asset recovery

Tezpur: UCO Bank-the One Team, One Dream family organized a meeting titled ‘Town Hall Meeting’ at the KRC premises. Parag Kakati, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur, while inaugurating the meeting, advised the UCO Bank authority to devote all efforts for uplift of agricultural and SME sector in this district. He also assured to provide all possible help from the district administration for recovery of NPA (Non-Performing Asset) and asked the bank authority to provide the names of State Government employee borrowers whose accounts are NPA for speedy recovery.

Kakati also felicitated successful entrepreneur Krishna Sankar Hazarika, a Mechanical Engineer who had served in Oil India Ltd till 1992 and then left his job to become a small tea grower. He took loan from UCO Bank and started his Green Tea Manufacturing unit here in Sonitpur and providing livelihood of 60 families. His name has been recommended to the Government of India by UCO Bank as a successful entrepreneur under CGTSME Coverage scheme this year.

Kakati also felicitated Swapan Kr. Saha who had grown up at the mercy of his maternal uncle in Tezpur and could not even pursue his studies due to a financial crisis. He worked in his maternal uncle’s establishment in Tezpur and then became a successful entrepreneur with the help of UCO Bank loan. Saha now has his own enterprise, own house and car and is providing livelihood to 10 families in Tezpur. The meeting was attended by nearly 100 people.
