District Deputy Director of School Education Carries out School Inspection

Itanagar: West Siang District Deputy Director of School education (DDSE) Eto Ete accompanied by Block Education Officer (BEO) Kento Ngomdir and mid-day meal coordinator Iken Bagra along with other officials of the department, recently conducted a three-day long visit of 19 schools falling under Liromoba, Yomcha, Darak and Kamba circles to ascertain the first hand information regarding implementation of mid-day meal, CMSSY and actual enrolment of students.

During the inspection tour, teacher performance was examined by the team, projects of CMSSY were surveyed, implementation of MDM scheme were scrutinized and student enrolment were thoroughly verified. The team also interacted with the villagers, teachers, non-teaching staff and students.

It has been observed that despite communication bottlenecks and inhospitable terrains, some teachers and non-teaching staffs of the department are giving their best to impart quality education although lots of irregularities were also detected among the staff.

The practices of furnishing inflated figures in terms of enrolment have been found rampant, the release said adding the team would take the erring officials to task for their deliberant offences. The DDSE disclosed that the teachers posted in the schools have been drawing salary and the school incentives including MDM but they have failed to report the status of several schools being defunct.

“The teachers will be immediately withdrawn and posted in other schools and regular teachers will be penalized to regularize the absent period with earned leave and contractual teacher will be deducted salary as per the ‘No Work No Pay’ norms,” the release said.

It has also been observed that the implementation of MDM in the schools of Liromoba and Yomcha is quite unsatisfactory. No records of receipts and feedings of MDM are maintained.
