District Legal services camp held in Demow

DEMOW: The Assam State Legal Services Authority, in association with the District Legal Services Authority and district administration, Sivasagar, held a legal services camp at Athabari Higher Secondary School Field, Demow recently.

Justice Suman Shyam, Judge of Gauhati High Court, was present in the programme as chief guest and he inaugurated the legal services camp. Dr.S Lakshmanan, Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar, said that the Sivasagar district authority had been pursuing a policy to take the administration to the doorsteps of the people of far-flung areas also so that people were not deprived of socially beneficial schemes and services.

The department officials of Agriculture, Veterinary, Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission, Social Welfare, Police, Handloom and Textile, Sericulture, Food and Civil Supplies, Forest, Fisheries, Health and Family Welfare, Handloom, Labour, Education, Tourism, PHE, Disaster Management, Panchayat and Rural Development explained about different welfare schemes and also received applications for availing the benefits. Self-help Groups (SHGs) and socio-cultural organizations took part in the exhibition held on the day.

Cheques of Rs.25,000 each were distributed among 10 SHGs under the Kanaklata Mahila Sabalikaran Scheme.
