District road safety committee meeting held

Haflong, July 6: To discuss various road safety measures in the district of Dima Hasao, the district road safety committee of the district under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Amitabh Rajkhowa met at the DC’s conference Hall on Thursday. Various points were discussed in order to ensure that no life is lost or no untoward incidences occur on road. Measures to evade traffic congestion points like schools, market areas especially on market days, auto rickshaw parking places were focus of discussion. The traffic control authority has been entrusted with the duty of ensuring implementation of the resolutions taken at the meeting today. It was also decided that drunken driving will be on check on road specially on the National Highway for which the roadside dhabas will be also be brought under the scanner. Proper signals will be installed on the highways with clear indication of speed limit around certain areas in Dima Hasao. It was also disclosed that the rate of loss of lives have no doubt decreased compared to other years but this has to be further prevented. The meeting was attended by Project Director, NHAI, Haflong, DSP in-charge of traffic, officials from Excise, Health and Information & Public Relations departments.
