DMB joins hands with NGOs for waste management

Dibrugarh, May 19: With a view to tackling the menace of waste, Dibrugarh Municipal Board (DMB) has entered into an agreement with two NGOs, namely, Clean City Foundation, Coimbatore and Aagroh.

Both the organizations, which will start discharging their assigned roles from June 1, have been entrusted with the responsibility to collect household waste, while ensuring proper segregation of the same into biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. While the former will be recycled to the extent possible, the latter will be converted into organic manure. All these activities will be conducted under the guidance of both the fixed-pay as well as the temporary employees of DMB.

The aforementioned NGOs, for the successful implementation of the operation, will also generate awareness among the households regarding segregation of waste at source. Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has donated one compactor and one cesspool to DMB for the purpose, besides donating 25 e-rickshaws and 15 tricycles.
