Domestic violence: Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women team in Pasighat

ITANAGAR: A team of the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW), Itanagar, visited Pasighat on Tuesday, on receiving a complaint letter of domestic violence against Yalik Siram Taloh.

Yalik was brutally attacked by her husband Kamin Taloh and her father Nalo Siram on April 19 filed an FIR at Pasighat police station. She was admitted to the general hospital in Pasighat. Later the victim was taken to Dibrugarh for treatment.

APSCW chairperson Radhilu Chai Techi deputed an APSCW team comprising of Vice Chairperson Heyomai Towsik, members Techi Hunmai and Yame Higio to visit Pasighat to conduct a preliminary enquiry. The team met the victim and also the victim’s parents and father-in-law and recorded their statements.

The team also visited alleged accused mother-in-law of the victim, who is in judicial custody. Later, the team met the DC, SP, OC and IO of the case and discussed with them the details of the case and asked them to nab the absconding accused as early as possible.

In the meantime, the APSCW appealed to all citizens and CBO’s to abstain from taking the law into their hands as the district administration and the police are performing their duty to their utmost capabilities. In this matter, the women community, students, community-based organisation and other NGOs on Wednesday organized a rally demanding immediate arrest of the culprit.
