Drive against country spirit conducted across Guwahati

GUWAHATI: In a drive against country spirit conducted by a team of officials of the Excise Department on Tuesday, more than hundred liters of country spirit were seized and destroyed at various places like Narengi Railway Station, Bamunimaidam, Athgaon, 14 Mile, 13 Mile and Barnihaat near Sonapur. The officials destroyed some temporary structures at Athgaon allegedly built along both sides of the railway trek for selling country spirit. The officials also destroyed 900 liters of country spirit there and arrested two persons. Other hand, the officials destroyed 300 liters of country spirit at 14 Mile, 13 Mile and Barnihaat and arrested one. The officials also seized another 300 liters of country spirit at Narengi railway station.
