Drive against unsafe food continues

GUWAHATI, June 21: In a drive against unsafe food, a team of food safety officials accompanied by Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Pijush Hazarika made a sudden visit at different sweet shops and restaurants located in the Fancy Bazaar area on Thursday. According to a communiqué issued to the media, the team checked the level of hygiene maintained by Rookman Sweets and Salasar Kitchen and apparently sealed the establishments allegedly for violating the prescribed guidelines for proper hygiene. The communiqué said that both the shops were found preparing sweets and other eatable items in an unhealthy condition. After observing the situation, the Minister cautioned the concerned traders and asked them to follow the guidelines to maintain hygiene. “Action will be taken against those who are found to be violating the rules,” said the Minister.
