DRSU demands ban on sale of alcohol in hotels

HOWRAGHAT, June 22: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), a unit of Diphu Regiol Students’ Union (DRSU) submitted memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong, Mukul Chandra Gogoi demanding ban on the sale of alcohol in hotel premises. The student body appealed the DC Mukul Chandra Gogoi to stop illegal sale of alcohol in hotel premises of Diphu town immediately. The memorandum signed by Shorjun Hanse, general secretary, DRSU apprised the Deputy Commissioner that many school students had turned alcoholic due to easy availability of alcohol in hotels in the market area. He further stated that brisk illegal business was going on ubated under the nose of the police and district administration in the district headquarter town at a time when there is a tion-wide wave for banning alcohol and tobacco in the country.
