Drug peddler identified as Amir Hussain Laskar detained and sent to jail

Silchar: In course of the routine check of vehicles on NH 37, a drug peddler identified as Amir Hussain Laskar (28) was detained with 440 grams of drug travelling by cruiser with the number plate AS II CC 6344 last evening at Jirighat check post, opposite Jiribam, the entry point to Manipur. SDPO Lakhipur, Anurag Sharma, led the search team with O/C Manoj Rajbongshi of Jirighar police station. According to information, Hussain, a resident of Gobindpur under Silchar police station, was carrying the drugs from Manipur for sale in the known pockets of drug addicts of Cachar. The value of the drugs seized is Rs 8 lakh in the market. He was produced before the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate of Lakhipur and later on sent to jail.
