Drugs Mafia Gang Busted by police in Digboi Bypass, Three Arrested

Tinsukia/Makum: Based on a tip-off, a joint operation was conducted by Makum Police and 68th Battalion CRPF in the Tinsukia’s Digboi bypass area and intercepted an Alto Car bearing registration number AS 23S 7934 and arrested two persons and a lady in connection with alleged cross-border drugs smuggling.

The operation team recovered at least 900 gram of brown sugar from their possession.

The two persons were identified as Lakhi Neog (38) hails from Bordumsa and Hiran Tomba Ali (45) from Miao in Arunachal Pradesh, informs Officer-in-Charge, Makum, Bhaskar Saikia.

Speaking to The Sentinel Digital, OC, Bhaskar Saikia said, “We have one lady along with the other two people. There was another person who was accompanying them in a bike managed to escape from the spot. The person was identified as the husband of the lady.”

OC Saikia further added, “As per our preliminary investigations, we are suspecting it to be a case of cross-border drugs smuggling.”

All the three persons have been arrested with case no 247/18 under section 21(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
