DU to host inter-college youth festival

Dibrugarh, Jan 16: In an effort to provide a stage for the students of all the colleges affiliated to Dibrugarh University, an Inter-College Youth Festival 2015-2016 will be held here at Dibrugarh Hanumanbux Surajmall Kanoi College (DHSKC) from January 21 to January 23 for giving the students an opening to platform their flair and brilliance in diverse cultural activities. The programmed event, will witness the participation and attendance of almost 2000 students of almost 170 affiliated colleges under DU.

On January 21, the iugural day of the festival willcommence with the traditiol flag hoisting ceremony to be hoisted by the Principal of DHSK College, Dr. Sasikanta Saikia, which would then be followed by smriti tarpan in reminiscence of martyrs and memorable people, to be honoured by Prof. rendra Mahela.  

Likewise, the iuguration of a cultural procession by Dr. Chandrakanta Gogoi, followed by a meeting to be iugurated by Vice-Chancellor of D.U, Dr. Alak Kumar Buragohain  with Dr. gen Saikia as the chief guest, are the prominent initial events to be held as part of the first day itinerary of the youth festival. Later, in the afternoon, the main competitions would begin to be held at various halls of the college, which includes Jyoti Sangeet, Bishnu Rabha Geet, Anukriti and Akankho at. Likewise, instrumental competitions like khol , tabla, violin, sitar, mandolin, guitar and flute will also be organized together with solo and group lokgeet competitions with dhol, pepa and gaga being the main instruments. Recitation, debating, painting and collage presentations are also been included under the contest category of the opening day of the inter-college youth festival.

On January 22, that is the second of the festival, will begin with various competitions like poetry recitation, Bhupen Hazarika Geet, Adhunik (Modern) Geet, Parbati Prasad Geet, Jayanti Hazarika Geet, mime acts and akanko at. Competitions on folk dance, classical dance will also be held along with quiz and photography, installation and cartoon competition.

 On the fil day of the Youth Festival, the daytime events would initiate with Bokar Model construction, and Alpa.  At the college premises, under the open stage a chorus and fancy dress event will also be organized as stated by the organizing committee of the youth festival.

The three day Inter-College Youth Festival, on its closing moments, would wind up with the prize distribution ceremony.
