Dibrugarh: Along with different parts of India, the festival of Durga Puja successfully concluded here as well on Friday.

On the previous three days, that is, Saptami, Ashtami and Navami, the streets wore a festive look with swarms of people, all decked up, visiting the mandaps. While the young generation was seen indulging in merry-making and camaraderie, the scene of kids coaxing their parents into buying them toys was quite common. The Pujas at Malipatty, Mitra Sangha, Jyoti Nagar, Marwari Patty, Jhaluk Para, and Subhash Pally stole the show with their aesthetically-pleasing designs and touch of creativity.

On the day of the Dashami, the immersion of the idols of Goddess Durga began from early second half and continued till the evening. Hordes of people, amidst much fun and frolic, took to the streets and eventually immersed the idols in the Brahmaputra. Late in the evening, people were seen visiting each other’s houses greeting Vijaya Dashami and biting into a wide variety of sweets. Moreover, during the entire event, law and order were taken special care of by the administration and the Police.
