Eating Out: Yoko Sizzlers

Iconic restaurant Yoko Sizzlers, which is known for its lip-smacking sizzlers that tantalizes taste buds opened its first outlet in the Northeast last Wednesday (May 1, 2019) at F Fort, South Sarania, Ulubari, Guwahati. To mark the momentous occasion, the Guwahati franchisee unit’s owner Neena Brahma along with Assamese actress and celebrity guest Nishita Goswami inaugurated the restaurant.

With the tagline, “When you are tired of eating out, come home to Yoko Sizzlers”, and a history of 30 years in the food business, Yoko is known for maintaining its consistency and food quality. The brand Yoko is the culmination of hard work, perseverance, integrity customer satisfaction, restaurant ambience, kitchen hygiene, and the most important of all, the endeavour of the entire Yoko team to satisfy the taste buds and the appetite of the most discerning customer at a reasonable price.

Established in 1986, by the Y. H. Rizvi group of companies, Yoko Sizzlers specializes in quality sizzlers with a portion enough to satiate the heaviest of appetites. The menu ranges from Steaks, Mutton, Chicken, Seafood and Vegetarian Sizzlers and many more such varieties. Yoko sizzlers also have a whole range of Soups, Cocktails, Salads, Rice Delights, Mini-meals and Sandwiches and vast array of desserts. The brand is being patronized by film stars, politicians, sports icons, movers & shakers and food connoisseurs across the world. The head office of the outlet is located in Mumbai with many other outlets in Dubai, Doha and Oman. It may be mentioned that there are overall thirty ‘Yoko Sizzlers’ outlets spread all over the country. The Guwahati outlet is the first outlet of the popular chain in entire Northeast India.

The idea behind taking up the franchisee and opening up the outlet in Guwahati came up to owner Neena Brahma when she realized that no restaurant in Guwahati serves authentic sizzlers. Her love for food and search for good sizzlers came to an end in 2004 when she first tasted Yoko's sizzlers in Mumbai. That is when she decided the bring Yoko Sizzlers to Guwahati. “As we don't have good Authentic sizzler joints in entire Northeast that would serve sizzlers to its customer the way it should be, so I thought it's time to give the people of Northeast the taste of sizzling sizzlers of Yoko's that would keep sizzling till they take the last bite from the sizzler plates,” says Neena.

Expressing her joy on the launch, franchisee owner Neena Brahma said, "We are extremely glad to bring Yoko Sizzlers to Guwahati, and to the people of Northeast India. For the first time, Northeast will experience 44 varieties of sizzlers. We have 11 vegetarian, 15 chicken, 6 mutton and 12 sea-food sizzlers – isn’t that a spread? Over the years, Guwahati has been exposed to many adaptations of popular cuisine with Yoko citizens can expect authentic sizzlers the way they should be enjoyed. “We are not a competition to anyone, as Yoko is already a brand and we assure to deliver the best sizzlers.”

The décor and ambience of the outlet in Guwahati is vibrant, colourful and well-lit. Sitting capacity is spacious enough to accommodate at least 30-40 people at a time.

The outlet serves 44 different types of sizzlers that include items like Veg Sizzlers, Veg Pasta Sizzlers, Paneer Shaslik, Peri Peri Chicken Sizzler, tangy Orange Sizzler, Mutton Satellite etc. Amongst the sea food spread Fish Shashlik, Fish Satellite, Stuffed Fish, Fish with Oyster/Garlic/Pepper Sauce, Prawns with Sauce, Prawns Shashlik are most sought for. Other than these a huge spread of mini meals, burgers, sandwiches, rolls, pizzas, breakfast snacks, fresh fruit juices and shakes and amazing desserts also makes the menu appealing and more interesting. At present the place has 14 staff members along with a team Headed by the chief chef from Mumbai Yoko.

With an average cost of Rs800, for two people, this place is surely going to be the next happening food joint for Guwahatians to look forward to.
