Education system must bring out potential of every child

LAKHIMPUR: “The education system must bring out the potential of every child. So, the present education system in Assam from primary level should be changed. It becomes inevitable in order to ensure the development of the latent talent of each and every child so that their potential can be used for productive work or for building of the society.

Otherwise, a major portion of capable persons in the State will continuously be lost under the term of unemployed,” said internationally acclaimed innovator-cum-technologist Dr. Uddhab Kumar Bharali while taking part in the Children’s Day programme organized by Marias’ Children Academy of Panigaon in Lakhimpur district on Wednesday.

Delivering the lecture in the event as appointed speaker, Bharali stressed the introduction of such an education system which could enhance their confidence level. The programme was chaired by president of Academic Advisory Committee of the school, Biren Das while Headmistress Mitali Borah delivered the welcome address. Writer and State Award winning retired teacher Khirada Kakati, journalist Ranjit Kakati, SI of Bihpuria education block, Abdur Rajjak and teacher of Badati Janajati High School, Dip Kumar Borah attended the programme as guests of honour. Several students spoke on the life of Jawaharlal Nehru and performed various cultural programme. On the occasion, a cultural procession with around 300 children was also organized by the school. The North Lakhimpur city committee of All Assam Unemployed Association also observed Children’s Day at North Lakhimpur town High School. The meeting was chaired by Headmistress Ruprekha Bhattacharya and inaugurated by retired headmaster Padmanath Sarmah. A series of competitions were also organized.

In addition to these various schools, institutions under North Lakhimpur and Dhakuakhona subdivision, Integrated Child Development Centres and Anganwadi centres under Lakhimpur district Social Welfare Department observed Childen’s Day.
