'Efficiency, incorruptibility key elements of good governance'

SIVASAGAR, April 22:  The 12th National Civil Services Day was observed at Deputy Commissioner’s Office premises here in Sivasagar on Saturday. Sivasagar DC Pallav Gopal Jha, Additional Deputy Commissioners Nawab Alahzer Ali, Aswini Kr Doley, Bidit Das and Moon Gogoi and other officers and staff were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion the DC highlighted the importance of civil servants working for effective public service delivery. While stressing on ensuring accountability at bureaucratic level, he exhorted the officers to fight against all odds for good governance by making their services more citizen-friendly with impartiality.  He also added that in any government, the civil servants are most powerful but with this power comes great responsibilities with more accountability.

While emphasizing that empathy, efficiency, impartiality and incorruptibility are the key elements to good governance, he called upon the officers to take up the challenges and contribute for the betterment of the State and the society as a whole and make people feel worthy and proud of being Indian citizens. ADC Nawab Alahzer Ali gave a brief note on the history and importance of Civil Services Day and urged all to give responsive and accessible services to the common man. Earlier, ADC Aswini Kr Doley spoke on the objective of the occasion and said that the purpose of celebrating Civil Services Day is to rededicate and recommit themselves for the cause of the people.
