DHUBRI: PHD Chamber is making an attempt to transform industries coming under the category of micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) in the entire north-eastern region with a ‘human touch’. This was stated by CM Krishna, an advisor of PHD Chamber, in a seminar on ‘Development of Northeast Region - Role of MSMEs’ recently.

Krishna in his introductory speech told the frontline entrepreneurs that all policies in the past failed to achieve the desired goal because of rigid lines drawn and home-based industries could not cope up with these. He sought suggestions for remedial measures to ensure positive growth of entrepreneurship from grassroots level.

Peter Rimmele, a resident Representative of Konard -Adenauer- Stiftung (KAS) of Germany in India, endorsed the concept of ‘Policy with human touch and face as well’. Peter in his brief speech said that for 50 years KAS of German had been with the PHD Chamber and had been doing a lot of work in India for growth of industries.

Speaking in the seminar, Rakesh Tiwari, a business facilitator, Assam, Government e-Market place (GeM), spoke at a length on the opportunities provided by the Central and State governments as well to promote the MSMEs in the Northeast region.

This is a part of the initiative of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME) targeted towards developing a supportive ecosystem for entrepreneurs. The seminar was also addressed by Sunita Rai, Assistant General Manager, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and Manoj Kr Das, Deputy GM, NEDFi.
