Efforts on to bring rural households  under financial inclusion programmes

MANGALDAI, June 30: Sunil Kr Tandon, who recently joined as the Chief General Manager (CGM) of State Bank of India, North Eastern Circle, has a vision to bring all the rural households of the region under the financial inclusion and insurance benefit programmes of the Prime Minister of India. He was talking to the media on Friday following his visit to several villages of Darrang district where he addressed public awareness programme and enroll camp organized by the SBI in connection with the celebration of the second phase of Gram Swaraj Abhijan.

“I have a vision to include all the rural households of the region under financial inclusion programme like PM Jan-Dhan Yojana and also cover them under the two most beneficial insurance schemes - PM Jibon Jyoti Beema Yojana and PM Suraksha Beema Yojana -so that poor families with financial hardship can benefit the most,” he said.

Earlier while addressing the people, he appealed to the people to avail the benefits of insurance coverage of Rs 2 lakh up to 70 years of age just against a monthly cost of one rupee. He also appealed to the people to approach the outsourcing centres of the bank called Customer Service Points for quick result at their doorsteps. The CGM in his maiden visit to the district addressed public meetings at Chamuapara, Dighirpar, Hazarikapara and Kharupetia.

He was accompanied by Deputy General Manager (Outsourcing), SBI, Anjali Lynden, Assistant General Manager, SBI Mangaldai, Sapan Kr Sarkar, Zonal Head of UCO Bank, Jorhat Zone, Bishnu Pada Karmakar and Lead District Bank Manager, Darrang, Pradip Kr Goswami. Later in the afternoon at a simple function at SBI, Mangaldai campus, CGM Tendon reportedly distributed cheques of loans to few selected farmers under the Kishan credit schemes.
