Ekta Kapoor Debates on 'Nepotism' in Bollywood

Following a teaser post in Instagram by Indian Film/TV producer Ekta Kapoor, while launching her trailer promo, she directly mentioned that even outsiders should be given chance to show their talents, which later sprung a debate on ‘nepotism’ once again in the industry.

Her post brought a war of words in the industry, which later raised questions on her background, as Ekta Kapoor is the daughter of Indian legendary actor Jeetendra. Then comments on Kangana Ranaut's entry into Bollywood, was also taken into notice as she was an outsider, but she made some of the blockbuster hit as well.

Following such comments, Ayesha who is the mother of Tiger Shroff and wife of Jackie Shroff, expressed that it was Ekta Kapoor who launched their son in Bollywood with his first debut in the movie ‘Heropanti’ in 2014. She said, “It is not a sin to have star fathers my dear! Hard work and talent is the same no matter what caste, creed or lineage!”

Arguably, Ekta replied on Ayesha’s comment that it is much difficult to make and market a film with outsiders in it.

The producer Ekta Kapoor shared her opinion during a trailer launch of her upcoming movie “Laila-Majnu” starred by new faces Avinash Tiwary and Tripti Dimri.

She also added that she doesn’t do nepotism. She doesn’t have a problem with it but she may take a different route which is not entirely business friendly. In the end, if the film doesn’t work well, she will make two TV shows so that the company doesn’t suffer much.

The forthcoming movie Laila-Majnu will be directed by Imtiaz Ali and will be in theaters from September 7, 2018.
