Electronic Media to face Media Magement in title clash

GUWAHATI, March 1: The fil of the 3rd Star Cement ASJA T20 Cup Cricket fil will be the repeat of last edition as Electronic Media to face Media Magement. The title clash will be held at the Judges’ Field on Thursday.

Media Magement entered into the fil yesterday while Electronic Media booked their berth defeating Barak Upatakya Krira Sangbadik Sangstha (BUKSS) by 5 wickets in the last group league match today. It was the third consecutive entry for Electronic Media in the fil of this competition.

Chasing 107 runs to win Electronic Media lost five wickets before they reached the target in 10.4 overs. BUKSS should blamed their bowlers for the defeat as they gave away plenty of wide in the game to make the job easy for Electronic Media. Electing to bat, BUKSS scored 106-9 in stipulated 20 overs. Bedabrata Banerjee, fought alone for his team, played a patience knock and remained not out on 44 runs. Robin Das and Dwipen took three wickets each. Later Robin Das (25) and Sunil Bora (21) scored most of the runs for Electronic Media during their successful chase.

Earlier, Assam Sports Jourlist Association (ASJA) signed off the tourment with a thumping 51-run win over Assam Photo Jourlists Association at the same venue. The highlight of the game was  two good knocks from Tauhid Ali Talukdar (93) and Rajdeep Das (48) which was followed by two brilliant spells from Bidyut Kalita and Hirokjyoti Malakar.Both the bowlers bagged three wickets each in the game.

The hosts scored 170 in 20 overs losing only one wicket. Tauhid and Rajdeep domited almost entire part of ASJA innings and added unbeaten 139 runs from 88 balls for the second wicket partnership. Opener Rajdeep anchored the innings with his patience unbeaten 48 runs (from 45 balls) which featured six boundaries, most of which was manufactured with classic wristy work. Tauhid, however, was in attacking mood and he availed every opportunity that came to him during the innings. The right handed batsman missed a well deserved century for just 7 runs but his entertaining knock will now be the part of the history of this competition. Tauhid took just 56 balls to score 93 runs with the help of 11 boundaries and three sixes.

Later veteran spinner Bidyut Kalita surprised everyone with his off-spin. The bowler picked up three wickets in a single over to seal the fate of the game. Right arm pacer Hirokjyoti Malakar and Tauhid Ali Talukdar gave him good support picking three and two wickets respectively. Speed star Hirokjyoti, popularly known as Ashish, showed some hostile fast bowling as he cleaned bowled his three victims with almost unplayable balls. The Assam Photo Jourlists Association maged 119 for 9 in allotted 20 overs. Gauranga Gogoi was the highest scorer with 46 while Bhisma Thapa contributed 23.
