Elephant survives Brahmaputra ordeal

Guwahati, June 19: The wild elephant, which was swept away by strong currents of the surging Brahmaputra and spotted struggling in midst of the river at Guwahati on Friday, was today seen at Botahidiya Chapori at Chayygaon. However, it remains marooned with the Brahmaputra surrounding the sand bar on all sides. A police party scouted the area in a bid to rescue the elephant, but filly decided nothing could be done as of now.
