Eminent scientist Dr Saha calls for energy security and environmental protection during his guest lecture in IIT Guwahati

DHUBRI: The Department of Chemistry and Centre for the Environment, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati jointly organized a guest lecture on ‘Energy and Environment Wellness - An Indian Perspective’ on Tuesday. Dr Saha hails from Dhubri and currently works as an honorary member (eminent scientist) of West Bengal State Council of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, Kolkata.

Dr. Saha while addressing as the guest lecturer on the subject, laid emphasis on the need for energy security through multiple sources of energy, with particular focus on renewable sources of energy for sustainability as well as environmental protection. “Prevalent climate is alarming due to global warming which is indicator of a big upset in nature and environment as a whole. Air pollution and other factors combined are largely responsible for unnatural deaths due to respiratory trouble, dysfunction of lungs, cardiac arrest and cerebral stroke,” Dr. Saha added.

He mentioned different ways out and means of energy conservation, effective and productive use of energy at every step and enduring preservation of nature and environment at the same time. Dr. Saha appealed to all the participants to take up in-depth study and creating awareness far and wide on the issues of environmental concerns and afforestation.

“It is the need of the hour make a practice in day-to-day life with tiny changes in our lifestyle for national interest and from global perspectives,” he added.
