Employees in Darrang enjoy unofficial holiday on Holi due to the confusions of district administration

MANGALDAI: In spite of the hectic poll schedule following the declaration of the notification for the election in 8 Mangaldai HPC, all the State government employees and officials except very few in Darrang district on Friday on the second day of the ‘Holi’ availed an unofficial and undeclared holiday as the district administration failed to remove the confusion over the local holiday.

On Thursday, the Deputy Commissioners of some neighboring districts in view of the Holi celebration had declared local holiday on Friday ie on today. A good number of employees as well as officials on hearing the official holiday on Friday as per the provisions of the NI Act in the neighboring district today did not turn up in the respective offices and enjoyed a full holiday. However, a section of officials and employees who got a clarification today attended the office.

Today except the banks, Deputy Commissioner’s office, SP’s office, all the government offices were found doors open without any attendance. This Correspondent while visiting the office of the Project Director of DRDA, Darrang and several other government offices at about 1.12 pm found not a single employee or official in the office. Significantly the main gate of the office of the Circle Officer of Mangaldai Revenue Circle was found closed under lock and key. However, the Circle Officer was seen in the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The office of the Zila Parishad was also found without any official or employee.
