Encroachers grab forest areas

GUWAHATI: Environment and Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Thursday informed the Assam Assembly that altogether 3781.5352 square kms of areas of national parks, reserved forests and wildlife sanctuaries are currently being encroached. While 3641.4502 sq kms reserved forests areas have been encroached, there are 39.71 sq kms and 100.375 sq kms encroached areas in national parks and wildlife sanctuaries respectively.
