Enquiry into death of Under-Trial Prisoner in Central Jail, Nagaon

GUWAHATI: An Under-Trial Prisoner (UTP) in Central Jail, Nagaon, one Tutumoni Bordoloi, son of Dhansing Bordoloi of Bogoriguri village was detained on November 19, 2018. As per advice of the BP Civil Hospital authority, he was shifted to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on December 17, 2018. At 9.30 am, the UTP was declared dead by the attending doctor on December 27, 2018. Srabana Sonowal, ACS, Executive Magistrate, Kamrup (M), Guwahati has been entrusted to enquire into the matter and find out the circumstances leading to the death of Tutumoni Bordoloi. Sonowal has been asked to submit her findings within fifteen days along with complete medical treatment record, health screening report, PM report, Inquest report and Viscera Examination to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), as per the orders of the District Magistrate, Kamrup (M), Guwahati.
