GUWAHATI, Feb 13: Assam Assembly Speaker Hitendra th Goswami has written a letter to the Chief Secretary, urging him to ensure the presence of higher departmental officials whenever discussion is taking place in the House involving the department concerned. It has been observed that in many cases, senior officials of different departments concerned skip the discussion in the House. Several MLAs have brought their absence to the Speaker’s notice. Meanwhile, AGP MLA Utpal Dutta has expressed utter dissatisfaction over the reply of the Home Department on a number of cases pending against IPS officers in the State. Regarding his question, the Home Department stated that information on the issue is presently being collected by the Department.
