Enthusiasm & Elation Among BJP’s First Timers To Fight Lok Sabha Elections

GUWAHATI: There is a great deal of enthusiasm and confidence among the ruling BJP candidates who have got party tickets for the first time to contest the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

Queen Ojha selected by the party to fight the election battle from the prestigious Guwahati constituency is elated by huge support received from the BJP workers. She said, “I am indebted to the leaders of the central as well State committees of the BJP for giving the opportunity to contest the Lok Sabha election.” Ojha on Thursday sought blessing from the sitting MP from Guwahati Bijoya Chakraborty. “Bijoya Baidu came to know me in 1979. She started knowing and understanding me from 1985. After 1985 we became very close to each other. Baideo has blessed me for success in my first big electoral battle,” Ojha said.

Power Minister Topon Kumar Gogoi who has received the party ticket to contest the Parliamentary election from Jorhat, will file his nomination paper on March 25. He said after 70 years of underdevelopment era of the Congress, the BJP is fighting the election on development agenda. “Concrete roads inside tea gardens were beyond imagination once upon a time. But the BJP has made concrete roads a reality in gardens,” Gogoi said, expressing his gratitude to PM Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for fielding him as the party’s candidate in Jorhat. Dilip Saikia who has received the BJP ticket for Mangaldoi constituency said he is confident of winning the election with a big margin to work for a “New India & New Assam”.
