Shillong, May 18: The West Jaintia Hills police on the night of May 17 re-arrested a drug supplier who had escaped from their lock-up last month. According to West Jaintia Hills, Superintendent of Police (SP), Vivek Syiem, on April 18, the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the district, arrested one drug supplier, Bringo Lyngdoh (37), a resident of Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills with three grams of heroin from Namdong in West Jaintia Hills. A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was taken up against him. Syiem informed that he was subsequently brought to Jowai, police station for safe custody, but managed to escape in the wee hours from the general room as the lock up was under repair. “The Special Cell of the West Jaintia Hills traced him to Kathakal, Hailakandi, Assam. On the night of May 17, a raid was conducted in a house where he was taking shelter and arrested him,” the West Jaintia Hill police chief said.
