Itanagar: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has asked the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in the State to exhibit strong ‘political will’ to resolve the turmoil in Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts of the State once for all.
Appealing to the State Government to make earnest effort to restore peace and tranquillity in the eastern districts of the State, the AAPSU demanded fast-tracking NIA investigation into the killing of MLA Tirong Aboh and ten others in a time-bound manner so that the culprits are brought before public domain at the earliest.
The apex students body of the State made the demand during a meeting with Chief Minister Pema Khandu here on Tuesday, the union informed in a statement on Wednesday. The union also submitted a memorandum to Khandu.
The AAPSU urged the government to take a stringent steps to push out the presence of all different insurgent groups and securing the TLC region.
Demanding immediate deletion of Chakma and Hajongs from the electoral roll, the union has strongly opposed the government’s move for temporary settlement of the Chakma and Hajong refugees in the State.
“When the matter of granting of citizenship rights is pending in the Supreme Court, the enrolment of Chakma-Hajongs in the electoral roll is a complete violation of the Constitution,” the union pointed out while demanding complete deletion of all enrolled Chakmas and Hajongs from the electoral roll.
It also urged for attachment of refugee issue in the state to the department of Border Affairs.
The union also pressed for resolving boundary disputes with neighbouring States.
The AAPSU also pressed for making water treaty on all the rivers originating from China and special fund package for containing Siang river flood, saying there were reports of construction of dams in the Siang river and other rivers originating from China.
