Fair price dealer charging more, alleges CSWO

SHILLONG, May 1: The Civil Society Women Organisation (CSWO) has alleged that a dealer engaged in supplying of ration under tiol Food Security Act (NFSA) is selling rice at higher rate than that fixed by the government. CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing alleged that the dealer of the village of Lumdiengang in Ri Bhoi district is charging Rs 5 per kg of rice under NFSA. According to Kharshiing, the actual price for 1 kg rice, according to the NFSA, is Rs 3 per kg. “Sugar is also being charged at the rate of Rs 23-25 per kg when the packed price is Rs 20 per kg,” she said. She also said that the CSWO was informed that a particular family from this village was only given 19 kg of rice but 21.1 kg was marked as lifted in the ration card by the Dealer of Lumdiengan fair price shop center. The CSWO has demanded action against the dealer.
