Fake currency notes seized, three arrested

PATHSALA, July 8: On Saturday, Bajali Police seized fake currency notes amounting to Rs 3.40 lakh in a joint operation lead by SDPO Bajali, Apar tarajan and Biren Kalita, in-charge of Patacharkuchi police station and Partha Pratim Biswas of Pathsala outpost in Barpeta district. Three smugglers were taking the fake currency notes in a Chevrolet car bearing registration number AS 01 BA 4710. Fake Rs 2,000, Rs 500 and Rs 100 notes were recovered from their possession at Saderi Nityanda Road under Patacharkuchi police station. The arrested persons are Jitumani Das of Ganeshguri in Guwahati, Chittaranjan Kalita of Nityanda (Kaharpara) and Parameswar Kalita of Andapur, Barama. They were allegedly taking the money from Guwahati to Nityanda.
