MANGALDAI: “Farmers can play a big role in the society not only from the economic point of view but also from the law-and-order point of view because farming is the main means of employment and criminal environment develops from lack of employment. If our youths get busy with new scientific farming, they will not only contribute to the economy of the nation but also help in developing a peaceful friendly atmosphere for all sorts of positive growth of the society,” said Darrang Superintendent of Police, Amrit Bhuyan while interacting with 30 young progressive farmers at the IIE-sponsored 30-day duration workshop on organic farming and vermi compost.

The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) for the first time in Darrang district has sponsored a month-long free workshop on organic farming and vermicompost in collaboration with DJ Agri Farm founded by young agri-entrepreneur Dhruba Jyoti Saikia on June 3 at the sleepy village of Ramgaon near Mahaliapara in the district. The Superintendent of Police, being highly interested in the achievements and activities of the 30-year-old young and progressive farmer, Dhruba Jyoti Saikia, on Tuesday visited the farm and interacted with the participating progressive farmers. With a view to strengthen the police-farmer relation for a peaceful atmosphere in the district, the Superintendent of Police assured all kind of support to the farmers’ community. He also replied to the relevant queries raised by a section of participating farmers. Earlier, agri-entrepreneur Dhurbajyoti Saikia accorded a hearty welcome to Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan with a phulam Bihuwan and a packet of black rice produced by farmer Saikia himself.
