Festival of Womanhood to honour women street hawkers held

SHILLONG, March 31: The Women Cell of Lady Keane College celebrated the Festival of Womanhood on March 29 as part of Intertiol Women’s Day in honour of women street hawkers, the real grassroot entrepreneurs who work under challenging circumstances to earn their livelihood to support their families.
The highlights of the festival was food stalls by street hawkers, a self- defence skill demonstration by Happy Red Rooster MMA, a musical treat by all female band,  photography exhibition of street hawkers and a sigture campaign.
The festival was declared open by the Principal C Massar and Chairperson, Women’s Right Commission, Theilin Phanbuh.
Some of the women hawkers remarked that they were humbled by such a grand arrangement made for them and that they were grateful that they could sell their products.
