Fil  preparation for civic polls in Sivasagar

Sivasagar, February 7: Candidates of all 14 wards were seen doing their fil campaigning for the civic polls. Apparently, there are 29,747 voters in Sivasagar in 38 polling stations. Since, there were disputes over who would contest in both the Congress and the BJP, it might turn out to be a golden opportunity for the independent candidates.  The day of the election has also been declared as dry day. There are 30 contestants in fray from Amguri and 23 from Dimou. The candidates who are contesting as independents since BJP did not give them tickets, are Anuj Khan from Ward No. 1, Umashankar Sarma from Ward No. 10 and Anta Rajkhowa from Ward No. 14. Independents who were earlier part of the Congress are Tashima Dolua from Ward No. 2, Pradeep Memaka from Ward No. 8 and Preeti Parikey from Ward No. 5. Former AGP member Anju Sarma is contesting from Ward No. 7.
