Fine collection for violating MV Act rising

SHILLONG, May 17: The Shillong Traffic Police has collected an amount of Rs 13,31,730 as fine in the month of April last. The amount collected from violators of the provisions of the MV Act during the month of March was Rs 6,65,450. It may be mentioned that a total of 509 motorists were fined for wrong parking, 172 for ‘No Entry’ violation, 559 for driving without seatbelts, 42 were compounded for driving under the influence of alcohol and non– FIR cases were taken up against four offenders of the same. About 279 were fined for driving without license, 19 for permit violation, 49 for driving without helmet in addition to the other offences under the MV Act.
