First exascale supercomputer in 2021

Washington: The US has disclosed its plan to build an exascale supercomputer, about seven times the speed rating of the most powerful system built to date. The US Department of Energy (DOE) granted a $500 million contract to Intel and sub-contractor Cray Computing and the supercomputer, called Aurora, will be delivered to the department’s Argonne National Laboratory near Chicogo in 2021, the DOE said in a statement, reported Xinhua news agency.
