Five arrested for fake currency circulation

Itagar, Jan 5: In a major breakthrough, five crimils, including two women, have been arrested from Miao-Kharsang area for circulating high quality fake Indian currency note at Miao market on January 1 last.

The accused have been identified as Ali Ahammad (52 years), Habel Ud Din (36 years), Amin Ul Islam (19 years) and two women. All the arrested accused have come from Satarakara viilage, under Barpeta district of Assam, an official communiqué said here today. The police have recovered and seized 21 numbers of high quality bank note of five hundred denomition from market, and two numbers of mobile handset, Indian currency and other goods from the possession of accused. A crimil case has been registered at Miao police station, the communiqué added.
