Five NDFB (s) ultras bbed in Kokrajhar

GUWAHATI, April 21: Five hardcore NDFB (S) militants , including a cadre, who was involved in massacre of Adivasis on December 23 last year , were apprehended in a joint operation of Army & Police, in thick jungles of Ripu Reserve Forest (Kokrajhar), in the wee hours today.

Defence PRO Lieutent Colonel Suneet Newton said that the apprehended militnts have been identified as Dilip Basumatary alias B Dawkhaw (Lieutent and Platoon Commander of Rangapara Platoon), Anto Swargairy alias Agar (Corporal and Section Commander of Bishwath Chairali Platoon), Philip rzary alias N Puthaisala alias Fighter (Lance Corporal), Phukon Goyari and Sanjoka Brahma alias B Saogari.

Two pistols (factory made), four hand gredes, nine live rounds and other war like stores were recovered during the operation. Anto Swargairy alias Agar (Section Commander), Philip rzary alias Fighter (Lance Corporal) and Sanjokha Brahma are Myanmar trained terrorists and were actively involved in extortion, kidpping and killing of innocent people. Anto Swargairy alias Agar was involved in the massacre of Adivasis on of December 23 last year at Sonitpur, Newton Said.

He said that the operation was launched on specific intelligence provided by Gajraj Intelligence (Military Intelligence Unit). Based on the intelligence, ambushes were laid in Ripu Reserve Forest of Kokrajhar District. During the operation, the militants tried to escape but were apprehended after a successful chase by Army. On Apr 18, Army had apprehended So, Platoon Commander of Chirang Platoon of 16th Bn NDFB (S) and his interrogation had provided vital links and clues about other cadres of the outfit.

The apprehension of five hardcore terrorist will be a severe blow to NDFB (S), which is trying hard to revive itself, after successful operation carried out by Security Forces against the outfit post December 23 carge of Adivasis, Newton said.
