Five NSCN (K) linkmen held in Longding district

Itanagar: In a major setback to NSCN (K), security forces in Arunachal Pradesh apprehended five over ground workers (OGWs) of the outfit from Longding district. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Longding Battalion of Assam Rifles apprehended the workers on Saturday who were identified as Palai Wangsa, Bankpoh Lukham, Langphua Lukham, Akbar Sheikh and Imtijaj Rehman, Defence Spokesman Col Chiranjit Konwer informed. Extortion money amounting to four lakhs and other incriminating documents including photographs and mobile contacts of insurgents were recovered from their possession.

Security Forces have been carrying out relentless operations in South Arunachal Pradesh to keep the area peaceful and out of clutches of insurgents and these apprehensions would go a long way in creating fear among the anti national elements in the area.

In the past three days, the battalion had apprehended eight linkmen of the banned outfit and has recovered more than sixteen lakh extortion money, the spokesman added.
