Flash flood in Dhakuakhona again

LAKHIMPUR, June 28: Flash flood has occured again in Subansiri Revenue Circle under Dhakuakhona subdivision in Lakhimpur district. As a result of rising water level of the rivers Jiadhol, Kumatiya and Karha due to heavy rain, flood has inundated another three villages in the revenue circle in addition to the previous 10 villages.

At present Jono, Mohbal, Chiringgora, Lejua, Maji Parot, Aria Parot, Chinai Parot, Deudhoni Parot, Morolia Pothar, Gohainbari, Konwarpur, Chandrapur and No 2 Medak Gaon- villages are under water. A total of 44 families are taking shelter in the flood relief camps at Majigaon LP School. Flood has affected 190 hectares of crop area, 290 families, 1,175 small and big animals as per the source of the district administration.

Road communication and transportation are still paralyzed as water is rolling down several parts of the PWD roads in the affected area. It is alleged that flood relief is not enough though the district administration has supplied food items for the people and rice bran as fodder for the affected animals.
