Flood victims continue to suffer

A CORRESPONDENT

LAKHIMPUR, July 9: Though the flood in Nowboicha Revenue Circle (RC) has receded to some extent, the flood victims of the area are still suffering. An unhealthy layer of silt, mud and sand has covered the foundation of residential houses after the flood water dried. Most of the flood victims have been taking shelter in the relief camps or the highland on the roads. As per report, a total of 10 villages under the revenue circle are still submerged in flood as the Water Resources Department under Lakhimpur district administration has been unable to plug the unplugged portion of Dolohat-Phoolbari PWD road which was breached by the sudden deluge of Singara river on June 28. As a result, the NH-15 between Dolohat Tiniali and Raj Ali area continues to be flooded.
