Foreign liquor smuggler held in Indo-Bhutan border

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 3: The 16th Bn.SSB, Ranighuli has succeeded to apprehend one Bhutanese liquor smuggler from the Aiepoally No-1 village area which is around 50 metres south of BP no. 169/6, Dadgari under Runikhata police station in Chirang district on Friday.

The seizure was made by the special operation party of BOP, Aiepoally. The person was detained while he was trying to enter India from Bhutan by using uuthorized track near BP No. 169/6 and was trying to flee from the sight of the operation party. During the prelimiry interrogation, the apprehended person failed to produce any legal documents of the liquor and was arrested on the spot.

The me of the apprehended person is Luku Brahma, son of Somber Brahma of village Dharampur under Runikhata police station. The recovered items included 12 Bhutan-made Sonfy liquor bottles valued at Rs 1,220, 12 bottles of Druk Beer valued at Rs 550, 24 bottles of Royal XXX Rum worth Rs.2500 and a bicycle worth Rs 2,000. The total value of the seized items is Rs 6,270.

Later, the apprehended person along with the seized items was handed over to the Customs Office, Dadgiri.
