Forest Man Jadav Payeng urges student community to save environment

Dibrugarh, April 30: The techno-cultural-magement festival ‘AUXESIS’ of Dibrugarh University Institute of Engineering and Technology(DUET) , as part of their first social initiative , organized a tree plantation event at the DUET core building front yard of Dibrugarh University (DU) on Saturday.
Padmashri Jadav Molai Payeng, as the chief guest, graced the plantation event, which was attended amongst others by the Director of DUET, DU, Dr Mukul C. Bora, Dean, Student Affairs, Dr Jiten Hazarika, faculty members and the students of DUET.
Later, Padmashri and Forest Man of India, Jadav Payeng, while speaking at the occasion, made an ardent call to the student community to save the environment from vanishing into oblivion of widespread deforestation. He further stated that one should inculcate the habit of planting one tree each day, instead of spending a large amount of money on a single day in the me of environment day.
Forest Man Payeng further deliberated that it was distressing to know that tress which are planted by children, are cut off by elders who talk big about global warming. He felt that more and more trees should be planted to let people live in a healthy environment. Payeng urged upon all to plant trees as semirs do not pave the way to save the planet from global warming. He stated that people breathe mas they get oxygen from trees, but if they cut them down, it would mean they were cutting themselves.
Later, addressing the gathering, Director of DUET, Dr Mukul Bora, stated that people need to find both active and passive ways to save environment. He further said that students should continue the process of planting trees as part of their social obligation to save the environment. Later, the students community planted trees at Sampoor Kendriya Vidyalaya, D.U.Model High School, and the university campus.
