Forest officials interact with around 10 Eco Development Committees of Dibru-Saikhowa National Park

TINSUKIA: In order to bolster alternative livelihood for communities living in the periphery of Dibru-Saikhowa National Park (DSNP) and also to explore tourism potential in and around DSNP and MaguriBeel, a team of State forest officials led by Ravi Kapoor, Additional Chief Secretary interacted with around 10 Eco Development Committees (EDC) established in the fringe areas on Wednesday. The team included AM Singh PCCF MoEF, Utpal Borah CCF Upper Assam Zone, RK Das CF Eastern Zone, M K Dhar DFO(Wildlife) had visited the wetlands. The team also mooted the idea to hold a national level Bird Festival in November at DSNP and MaguriBeel to draw more attention for bird lovers, tourists and entrepreneurs. A proposal in this respect would be submitted to the Government, informed M K Dhar.
