GUWAHATI: Former captain of Team India Saurav Ganguly made a hurricane visit to Guwahati. During his short stay the southpaw witnessed the ODI match between India and West Indies and also meet with the officials of the Assam Cricket Association and the other North Eastern states.

Although Saurav made several appearances in Guwahati during his playing days it was his first visit to witness an international cricket match. He spent nearly an hour at the president box.

There was some speculation that Saurav’s visit to Guwahati may be linked with BCCI’s next election as many felt that he is one of the main contenders for the post of president. However, it could be just a speculation till date as no one of the Assam Cricket Association officially confirmed the news. According to them, Saurav was invited as the Guest of honor for this match and he was here to keep our request.

However, Saurav’s presence will definitely boost the confidence of cricket organizer of the North East as they got the opportunity to speak with ‘maharaj’ for a while regarding the development of the game in their respective states.
