ITANAGAR: Former MLA Kipa Babu called for a clean and safe election while addressing students in a pre - election awareness camp 2019, organized by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) at Nijuli on Sunday.

Babu said that such awareness camp on election should have been initiated by the students’ organization of the State so as to make more impact. I hope in days to come we witness more such awareness camp in the State,” he added.

He advised the students to create awareness among the elders and few youths who are indulged in money culture during the elections. He said there are many people till today who prior elections demands money from the candidates.

“One should also know that even though a candidate may give you money, he (Candidate) after winning the election will never work for the betterment and development of society but will work to regain the expenditure he made,” Babu said.

He said this culture of demanding money and creating differences among the family should during the course of elections be brought to an end. This will not create a healthy family and society but upheld the tradition of corruption practices, he added.

Meanwhile, BJYM president Taring Tiri said that no doubt our country under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought the change in keeping clean surrounding but it’s time to change the mentality of youths during elections.

He also said that “in our State money power and muscle power are given more preferences than a person who is capable to work for the people of the constituency or the State.

“We should elect the right person with good vision; we should feel the need of good leader for which this camp has been organized,” he said adding that “those who run for money during elections will earn nothing.”

He also said that, the people know the need of clean elections and healthy living but we don’t apply and ignore it. This trend and the mentality should be washed from our minds to bring a developmental and social change in the state, he added.
