Four Indian youths with weapons and a large number of motorbike parts arrested in Bangladesh

AGARTALA: Acting on a tipoff, a police team led by Abdul Karim, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Kasba-Akhaura Circle) raided the Alif Hotel in Kuti Bazar under Kashba upa-zilla and arrested four Indian youths along with two Bangladeshi nationals. One revolver, four rounds of live cartridges, two country-made guns and a large number of motorbike parts suspected to have been stolen from Tripura were recovered from them.

The four Indians identified as Swarnajit Debnath (23), Normalendu Choudhury (37), Bimal Das (32) and Sankar Sarkar (32) are residents of Tripura.

According to police they are members of a large gang operating in both the countries and are involved in various anti-social activities also. On Saturday, police produced them before a local court in Brammanbari and sought ten days police remand but the court sent them to jail custody.

Police, from preliminary interrogation, learnt that they are involved in many theft and dacoity cases -- both in India and Bangladesh. ASP Abdul Karim told reporters that further investigation is going on to find out details about the racket. Police has recovered large quantity of motorbike parts from them which indicates their involvement with motorbike lifting rackets. The purpose of carrying arms is also being investigated.
