Four receive Star Student Award

MANGALDAI, April 9:  Four students of degree sixth semester standard, each from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology of Mangaldai College, were conferred the ‘Star Student Award’ recently under Star Student Scheme of Department of Bio Technology (DBT) under Ministry of HRD, Government of India. In this connection an award distribution ceremony was organized in the Science Gallery of Mangaldai College where all the four selected students were offered the award. The selection was made from a total of 12 nominee students, three each from the four departments on the basis of criteria, which included academic performance, performance in the paper on research methodology, attendance percentage, communication skills and co-curricular activities.
 In the function, Dr Prabodh Borah, Professor of the Department of Bio Technology of College of Veteriry Science at Khapara in Guwahati  under Assam Agriculture University (AAU), Dr Khagendra Kr th, Principal, Mangaldai College and retired teachers of Mangaldai College ceremonially gave away the awards for the year 2018 to Azizur Rahman of Physics department, Mridusmita Sarma of Chemistry, Dharmendra Chauhan of Botany and Mikshi Deka of Zoology department. Each award carries a bundle of books worth Rs 4,000, a certificate, a trophy, a college bag, opportunity to attend a month-long summer camp and a stipend of Rs 1000. The college has introduced this award in the year 2015.
